Welcome to the Washtenaw Dairy, a major fixture of the Old West Side of Ann Arbor. The Dairy, as it is referred to by the locals, has been open since 1934 and is a local hangout, particularly during the summer. On a warm summer day the Dairy is often crowded with people from the Old West Side getting sodas, floats, malts, ice cream cones or even sundaes. With a wide variety of ice cream flavors , the Dairy is a favorite with Ann Arborites from all over. Yes, even the big burly guys have a weakness for the waffles cones. Being less than a ten minute walk from my house, the Dairy is a frequent stop for my family... be it stopping after work, an afternoon snack, or a dessert after a fast supper in order to get there before they close. The extending of the Dairy's hours is a sure sign of summer here in Ann Arbor... bring on the ice cream cones and sodas!
