Fresh Snow Means Sledding on the Golf Course!

Welcome back, everyone! I hope that you are all doing well in this new year. Here in southeastern Michigan, we are digging out once again from our most recent snow storm. Everyone I've talked to (who grew up in Michigan) agrees that this has been the coldest and snowiest winter that we can remember. We have been getting snow since early November and it has been accumulating since early December. According to the Ann Arbor News, 46 inches have already fallen, surpassing last year's recorded number of 31 inches at this point in January...and there is more snow on the way! And with each snow fall the University of Michigan has been trying to clear their extensive parking lots and has been hauling the snow to the edge of the athletic campus (as seen above!) The mound of snow is now taller than the bridge that goes over State St., right next to the pile!

Meanwhile, across town, the repeated snow storms have made sledding a popular activity on the weekends. Huron Hills Golf Course and and the hill behind Veterans Memorial Indoor Ice Skating Rink (Vets as it is called by locals) are popular sites to take your sled. With fresh snowfall the hills are covered with multi-colored sleds, as you can see above. When my father was little, he used to go sledding on Huron Hills Golf Course. Later, he took my brother and me there, and now he has even taken his grandson, as well. Sledding on the golf course is truly an Ann Arbor experience. Have a great week, everyone!
